Why would you buy him a gift? If anything, he should get you something. (i.e. flowers, candy, etc)...but don't buy him something, he might find it weird or be turned off.

why would you buy a gift for a first date? that might be coming on a little too strong. just enjoy the date and be yourself, that will always make a good impression.

Here's my advice: don't give a guy a gift on your first date. First of all, this is far from common practice. Second of all, if you do this for the first date, he'll come to expect it for any and all subsequent dates. And lastly, if you do this, you'll look desperate.

you must get to know what he likes. you could give him a keychain or a hanky.a complilation of his favorite music. but i must warn you, since it is your first date with him. if ever he doesn't prepare any simple gift for you, better keep your gift on your bag. it's part of social etiquette.

I don't think you need to worry about a gift on the first date. There will be plenty of other times where you can get him gifts, if you actually start dating. Let's just get past the awkwardness of the first date first...

Making a good impression won't be because you gave him the coolest gift. It will be because you made him feel important. Talk about HIM! This is good advice for both guys and gals. We all like to talk about ourselves but stop yourself and let him do the talking. Also be as relaxed as you can and realize that he's just as nervous as you are about making a good impression.
