I'm in the opening stages of a claim after another vehicle hit me as I came out of a junction last week. The claim is hopefully going to end up 50/50 at fault and I'm fully comprehensive.
I was putting together all the information to send to the insurer today (logbook, Driving License, mot certificate etc) when I noticed that I'd given the wrong start date for my license to my insurer when I set up the policy.
Instead of entering the date when I passed my test I had copied in the details of when I'd obtained my provisional four years earlier. I feel like an idiot. My insurer is asking for a copy of my license now and I'm really worried this will invalidate my claim.
Does anybody have any idea what the likelihood of this happening is and whether they'd still pay the other party if the claim puts me at fault? Would I have to pay for my cars recovery and storage?
It'd be bad enough loosing the car. I'd never be able to afford to pay for the repairs to the other vehicle or court costs and god knows what else.Claim Advice: wrong Driving License start date given to insurer?
Once upon a time I would have said that they will most probably pay but nowadays to be honest, I have a feeling they'll do anything to get out of paying if they can.
Send them the details and keep everything crossed that they won't notice.
KDClaim Advice: wrong Driving License start date given to insurer?
I'm afraid it may well invalidate your claim. As far as they are concerned, you've made a false declaration as to your experience as a qualified driver, which is part of your contract with them, whether accidentally or otherwise. As the previous responder said, keep everything crossed that they don't notice.
